Solidarity in the COVID-19 Pandemic
The ICCA Consortium organised the first round of online discussions to bring together our membership in this difficult time, to strengthen solidarity, share experiences and responses from territories of life around the world, and jointly reflect on the ICCA Consortium's role, both now and into the future. We shared inspiring stories as well as challenges, as we considered how the ICCA Consortium could play a role in confronting and affecting the dominant paradigms that led to the emergence of COVID-19. The ICCA Consortium issued a letter to the Chief Minister of Assam and other officials in India to condemn the arbitrary arrest of two farmers' rights activists, including a nominated Honorary member who attended our recent GA. The second Regional Assembly of the ICCA Consortium in Latin America was held in October 2019, in Peru, before the III Congress of Protected Areas of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAPLAC). It was an occasion for the membership of the region to share experiences, deepen their strategies, and ensure the wide visibility of territories of life at the CAPLAC. Read more ▸
