After two years of online-only meetings, the ICCA Consortium Southeast Asia Regional Assembly gathered in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in October. Read more ▸

Members, Honorary members, and partners from across Southeast Asia took to cyberspace for the 2nd Southeast Asia Regional Assembly from 1-4 June 2020. Non-Timber Forest Products – Exchange Programme (ICCA Consortium Member) organized the first Philippine ICCA Youth Camp. Bringing together 22 youth leaders representing 12 different indigenous peoples’ organizations and indigenous cultural communities, it spurred plans for more youth participation in the promotion of ICCAs in the country. South Asia’s first Regional Assembly gathered Members and Honorary members and partners of the Consortium from India, Nepal and Bangladesh, in Rajasthan, Northern India to share experiences and define a way forward for community conservation in the region. In India, KRAPAVIS (ICCA Consortium Member) organized a workshop that included representatives from communities, forestry research and other research institutions, universities and colleges, along with the Forest Department, the ‘Rajasthan State Biodiversity Board’ (RSBB) NGOs, and governmental agencies, to agree on the first steps to secure Orans, based on the 2018 “deemed forest” Supreme Court order.
