Regional Coordinator for North Africa
Based in Rabat, Morocco, Najwa is a Moroccan woman strongly committed to nature and to the traditional rural communities entrusted with its care, despite their great vulnerability and poverty. Najwa’s involvement with the ICCAs movement began as a volunteer in 2016 and has helped to boost the ICCA Consortium Morocco. In 2023, Najwa became the regional coordinator of the ICCA Consortium for North Africa. A biology graduate, she has put her knowledge and more than thirty years of field experience at the service of the Moroccan Biodiversity and Livelihoods Association, serving as its president since 2020, and through which she makes a humble contribution to the fight for a respectful and sustainable relationship with nature. Inspired by these women and men who work tirelessly to protect their lands, waters, culture and territories, Najwa has decided to dedicate herself to their cause. She will spare no effort to honor them and highlight their commitment, so that they may serve as an example and pave the way for a sustainable world.
